It gives us great pleasure as the Organising Committee, to invite you to the sixth RUFORUM Biennial Conference, 2018 also known as the ‘African Higher Education Week’ to take place 22 – 26 October 2018 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Nairobi, Kenya under the Theme ‘Aligning African Universities to Accelerate Attainment of Sustainable Development Goals’.

The main objective of the Conference   is to provide opportunity for African universities to demonstrate their capacity as knowledge centers that facilitate rural innovation to solve community problems to leading to achievement of the sustainable development goals. The Conference will therefore provide opportunity for individuals, organizations and others to share best practices, experiences and lessons including how to best harness demographic dividends on the continent.

The Conference is expected to bring together over 800 delegates from across the continent with a large proportion university student (BSc, MSc and PhD), and Vice-Chancellors, policy makers, industry, development partners. Key institutions will be represented at the meeting, including the African Union Commission, regional Economic communities, higher education networks and institutions, research organisations, and others. The Biennial Conference is RUFORUM’s most comprehensive meeting for the diversity of stakeholders in Agriculture, Higher Education and Policy space that aims to provide platform for improving the quality and relevance of higher education in Africa.

The 2018 RUFORUM Biennial Conference will purposely expose the higher agricultural education sector to new methods, approaches and practices. Importantly, the Conference will expose young researchers to professional communities of practice. It will also be an opportunity to create linkages between the diverse stakeholders and players towards more efficient delivery of Sustainable Development Goals and a greater role of higher education in the process.
