Apply Now: PhD Studies at the African Center of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT)


Background

The Africa Center of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT) is established at the University of Rwanda (UR), College of Science and Technology with financial support from the World Bank ACE II project.  UR-ACEIoT aims to train a critical mass of African Scientists and Engineers in the field of IoT through Higher Education and Research. This provides a great opportunity for African students to enroll in multidisciplinary post-graduate programs in the field of IoT. ACEIoT will build on UR’s existing collaborations with the local and international partners, including Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda, and the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Italy.  This ensures that the training will be conducted by a truly global faculty.

Applications are invited from highly motivated and research-oriented students for the admission to PhD Programs in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) with focus on the following areas of specializations:

  • PhD in Wireless Sensor Networking
  • PhD in Embedded Computing Systems

Trainings will be provided through carefully designed curricula to promote cutting-edge interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in the field of IoT. The research supervision would be provided by faculty from UR-College of Science and Technology, as well as from other regional and international Partners from Universities and Research laboratories. Research topics should focus towards the development of new innovative approaches and solutions with relevance to the ESA priority domains, focusing on low-cost, open and sustainable solutions. The Research outcome should describe an overall working system/product/prototype or a real world deployment experience. Solutions to real world problems faced by the East and Southern African region would be of particular interest.

Call for Application: Master’s Degree Programmes at University of Rwanda

The College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM), University of Rwanda in collaboration with Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), is pleased to inform all interested and eligible candidates to apply for the following two year Master’s programmes:

  • MSc in Agricultural Engineering with specialization in Soil & Water Engineering
  • MSc in Agriculture with specialization in Crop Sciences
  • MSc in Animal Production

The programmes start on 25th January 2016.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Interested applicants are required to submit the following:

  1. An application letter for admission in the MSc programme
  2. Personal statement (Motivation) with at least 100 words
  3. A filled in Form 5 (Application to enroll in a master at University of Rwanda). The form can be downloaded from the the bottom of Announcement:

The form may also be collected from the office of Research and Postgraduate Studies at Busogo Campus (Room 346 or Room 340)

  1. Certified copy of Bachelor’s degree with Honors, First class or Upper Second class honors or its equivalent being issued by HEC for applicants studied abroad
  2. Certified copies of academic transcripts of undergraduate years
  3. A summary of Bachelor’s degree thesis
  4. A recommendation letter of current employer if applicable
  5. Two professional reference letters
  6. An updated CV
  7.  A copy of the National Identity Card or Valid Passport
  8. Two recent passport photos
  9.  A proof of payment of non-refundable application fee of 10,000 RwF, payable to the UR-CAVM Bank Accounts: 0094-0651931-40 (BK) or 00010-5044380-03-90 (I&M Bank)
