Twenty-five RUFORUM Network Universities among top 100 ranked African Universities

We are pleased to share with you the ranking of our member universities for the first half of the year 2017. Among the 66 member universities, Stellenbosch University was ranked highest (2nd position after the University of Cape Town) followed by University of Pretoria (4th), University of KwaZulu Natal (5th), Cairo University (6th), University of Nairobi (8th) and Makerere University (11th). Only 25 of the 66 RUFORUM universities were ranked among the top 100 African universities and 45 universities ranked among the top 500 including the 25 universities mentioned above.

The Ranking Web or Webometrics is the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions. Webometrics does the global ranking twice a year according to the number of times a new article appears on the Internet about research done at the institution. This is considered an indicator of the impact and prestige of the university and its commitment to disseminating research outcomes. Click here to view the table for the rankings.
