Consultancy: Provision of Internet Services to the RUFORUM Secretariat

Background: The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) is a network of 46 African Universities with mission ‘to strengthen the capacities of Universities to foster innovations responsive to demands of small-holder farmers through the training of high quality researchers, the output of impact oriented research and the maintenance of collaborative working relations among researchers, farmers, national agricultural research institutions’. The RUFORUM Secretariat is located at the Makerere University’s Main Campus within two buildings on Plots 151 and 155 Garden Hill (both sides of the road- directly opposite each other). To fulfil its mission, RUFORUM relies on its wide network of over 20,000 scientists located across sub-Saharan Africa to leverage economies of scope and scale. This is achieved through the application of technology, made possibly through efficient internet connectivity. Thus, the Secretariat functions rely on well-functioning internet services. RUFORUM wishes to identify an Internet Service Provider for its Secretariat. More information on the Secretariat can be found in Section C. RUFORUM is seeking for firms that will provide innovative proposals that meet the needs of the Secretariat with consideration of efficiency of the provided service. Firms are encouraged to highlight innovativeness of their proposals.

Objectives of the assignment: The overall objective of the assignment is to ensure a well-functioning Secretariat through the provision of internet services to its Secretariat in Kampala, Uganda.
